About the Role

NORESCO is seeking a Digital Controls Specialist that will be responsible for participating in building commissioning. This individual will have a strong background in Building Automation System (BAS) controls and a strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and applications. This person should be proficient with TAC Vista, TAC i/Net, and Niagara controls. The candidate should be proficient in Wireless Mesh Systems, with an emphasis on TropOS. The candidate will possess effective organizational, auditing, communication, and reporting skills. This is a hands-on role with direct interaction with sub-contractors, energy managers, and controls technician.

Role Purpose:

  • This position manages day-to-day auditing tasks with a focus on control strategies for energy savings. This includes the review of schedules, system alarms, and adjustment of controls points, collection, and dissemination of trend data, the creation of work orders, and ongoing maintenance of the TropOS Wireless Mesh Network.

  • As a Digital Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for providing input to NORESCO’s Measurement and Verification (M&V) Annual Verification Report (AVR). The candidate will accurately report results of system audits to stakeholders so identified deficiencies can be addressed in a timely manner. The individual will build and maintain effective relationships with our customer and the customer’s sub-contractors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all NORESCO and customer safety standards. Promotes safety awareness on work sites.

  • Participates in building commissioning (10 buildings per year) for the term of the contract.

  • Review system alarm history and identifies deficiencies, forward to Fort Jackson’s BAS Manager.

  • Query the control system and document any overridden settings.

  • Inputs and completes work orders in NORESCO’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Creates work orders in Fort Jackson’s CMMS (ArMA) as directed.

  • Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Meets regularly with customer and provides updates. Develops meeting minutes for each meeting.

  • Communicates issues with Fort Jackson’s BAS Manager in a timely manner. Works with onsite personnel to develop solutions to identified problems.

  • Review system time of day schedules to ensure they are set per the design specifications.

  • Maintains and ensures the integrity of the TropOS wireless mesh network.

  • Maintains a log of identified issues.

  • Manages assigned work in a professional manner that aligns with customer expectations.

  • Quarterly trend reporting of DDC points assigned by NORESCO’s M&V group.

  • Hosts weekly status meetings with Fort Jackson Controls Manager.

  • Reports issues or personnel changes to key stakeholders in a timely manner.

  • Provide training to customers on specific systems operations. Delivers documentation to the customer for training as needed or as contractually required.

  • Acquires certifications as required.

  • Completes required documentation on time, including timesheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation, and project status reports in accordance with company policy.

  • Complete safety training on time as prescribed.

  • Participate in weekly team status meetings with stakeholders.

  • Responds to scheduled or emergency situations as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years HVAC and Building Automation systems experience.

  • Due to the nature of the role, the ability to pass a federal background check is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive in BAS troubleshooting methods and practices.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and other Microsoft products as required.

  • Detailed knowledge of HVAC Mechanical Systems and applications.

  • Working knowledge of Honeywell EBI, TAC Vista, and TAC i/Net Controls.

  • Proficient in Niagara controls.

  • Strong knowledge of BAS controls, which includes an understanding of programming logic.

  • Basic knowledge of electricity and circuit theory.

  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technologies.

  • Able to read, understand and interpret Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical drawings and specifications.

  • 10 or more years BAS controls experience.

  • Proficient in TropOS wireless mesh networks.
