The Fire and Security Segment is a leading provider of fire and security systems leading to safer, smarter, sustainable and high-performance buildings. About this role
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Generalist at Kidde Safety (Fire & Security) is responsible for leadership and support to oversee Environmental, Health and Safety programs for North American Operations. This individual will manage/lead the EH&S function, providing technical support to advance EH&S programs with a primary focus on compliance with all local, state, federal, and Carrier EH&S-related requirements.
We are looking for a highly energetic, self-driven, and dedicated EH&S professional, with excellent English written and oral communication skills and the ability to excel in a matrix organization. The ability to work in a fast-paced team-based work environment is critical for success. The ideal candidate will also possess strong leadership and analytical skills. In addition, an understanding and knowledge of legal EH&S requirements including OSHA/EPA requirements is required.
The physical scope of this position will include Kidde North America: Mebane (Office, R&D & Warehousing), Colorado Springs, CO (R&D), Bradenton, FL (R&D), US domestic (Field & Sales support), and Kidde Canada (Office & Warehousing).
The Environmental Health & Safety Generalist will be based in Mebane NC , (working 2 days per week in the office) and also be required to travel for one week to other locations every month.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure timely risk assessments and adequate controls for EH&S processes
Conduct incident investigations and trend analysis developing corrective action plans
Partner with site leadership and facility management services to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations
Provide leadership and build partnerships at sites across all levels of the organization to foster EH&S culture improvement
Provide guidance and training to employees to ensure adherence to company EH&S Procedures and Standard Practices
Coordinate waste management programs across the physical scope of this position
Assist in the identification of Health & Safety hazards and the development of controls to mitigate risks including ergonomic improvements
Conduct EH&S audits; audit compliance to Kidde/Carrier policies and procedures and regulatory requirements; maintain and improve environmental regulatory compliance initiatives; evaluate the effectiveness of EH&S programs
Coordinate worker’s compensation program including claims management, and return-to-work coordination
Work on cross-functional projects that interface with other groups, external to and within the core EH&S team
Provide timely information and guidance to the site leadership team, and site EH&S council, including EH&S performance trends and root cause corrective actions for injuries and near misses
Drive action plans to meet and exceed aggressive EH&S goals
Lead and instruct EH&S training courses, and ensure all required training is completed
Develop and implement strategic action plans to achieve the company goal of having a hazard-free workplace
Determine and implement environmental sustainability initiatives to minimize water use, greenhouse gas generation, and hazardous waste generation and increase the recycling rate
Basic Qualifications
High School/GED with recognized Certification in Environmental, Safety, Health or Risk Management such as CSHO, OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer, OSHA Construction Industry Outreach Trainer, OSHA Certificate in Safety & Health Fundamentals (formerly OSHA Public Sector Certificate), Manager of Environmental, Safety and Health Certificate Program (MESH) and 7+ years’ experience in Environmental, Safety and Health program management in manufacturing and/or construction environment OR an associate degree with 5+ years’ experience in Environmental, Safety and Health program management in manufacturing and/or construction environment
1 week traveling a month to Kidde North American locations
Preferred Qualifications
BA/ BS degree in Environmental Safety and Health
Familiar with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 systems
Understand and knowledge of legal EH&S requirements i.e., OSHA/EPA
Leadership, organization, and project management skills
Work effectively in a team environment
Communicate effectively and work with all levels of the organization and external agencies
Understand standard EH&S reporting methods and metrics
Successful in leading and implementing site and/or corporate EH&S programs and systems
Influence and drive EH&S initiatives in a diverse, multicultural environment
EH&S risk assessment, program evaluation and auditing
Worked in EH&S in manufacturing/warehouse or research and development setting
Highly energetic, self-driven, and dedicated
English written and oral communication skills (French and Spanish a bonus)
Excel in a matrix organization, work in a fast-paced team-based environment
Knowledge, understanding and compliance with Environment, Health and Safety regulations, standard concepts, and practices & procedures
